State Fair

The next part of our whirlwind trip was to see Grandpa Jim, Grandma Sandy, and Auntie Beth. You will notice in the pictures below that Sydney is not in them. That is because Auntie Beth is 17 and very cool - way more cool than Mom! :o) So they had a little time together at the State Fair to hang out on their own while Grandma treated the younger two to pony rides.

Then it was off to the petting zoo. We bought a cup of food and let them feed these furry, not so little creatures. I hadn't been to this fair in about 10 years and it was fun to see it through my children's eyes this time.

To go along with tradition, I did accompany my kids on the Tilt-a-Whirl. I have to say, that ride seemed way less nauseating when I was a kid!

During this trip, Sydney also had her fair share of driving lessons. Don't worry - it wasn't in a car. She spent her time driving Grandpa's Prowler and Grandma's golf cart. She even met a new friend while we were at a backyard party on Sunday night. I have to say I just loved giving my children a little glimpse of what it was like to grow up in a small town, and maybe even remind myself how blessed I really am.
