After months of procrastination, I finally took London to the doctor to have her tested for celiac disease. The word "disease" makes it sound so much worse than it actually is. For those of you who don't know, it's an allergy to gluten. I haven't had her tested because I don't want it to be positive. Great mom, right? It will change a big part of our life if she does have celiac. Am I even saying that right? I didn't tell her beforehand that they had to take her blood. I figured she would be stressed out way before she had to. I did tell her that they were going to have to do a test. Now when she starts school, I will have created test anxiety for her. Man... I better start saving for therapy right now! When we got to the lab, I told her that they had to take a little bit of her blood. Instant tears! They let her sit in my lap. Two of us held her still while the phlebotomist took her blood. A few second later, she was done and very upset. Off to CVS we went...
We went to CVS to pick up a new prescription for her eczema (which is one of the symptoms of celiacs). I told her that she could pick out her own gum for being such a brave little girl (of course it has to be sugar free - we don't need any stinkin' cavitities). I also needed to get new fragrance free body wash and lotion. Just my luck, it was on sale AND I received $5 in extra bucks! Plus, I had a quarterly bonus to pay for part of my purchase in the first place. The whole time I was thinking, "Erica would be so proud of me!".
Now we wait until Friday or early next week to find out the results. I am really, really praying that they are negative. At that point, we will eliminate dairy for two weeks to see if that changes anything. But we will wait for the results of this test first.

Glad that everything went well and will be praying for those test results! Tell London that I am very proud of her for being brave when they took her blood (I do not like having my blood drawn because it takes them forever to find a vein and then I have a bruise for weeks). So proud of her though!
I AM very, very proud. I got a great deal on diapers there today, but fortunately for you, you don't need diapers. I hope for your sake and London's sake, that the test is negative. If not, you can check out the gluten free bakery in Eagan called Bittersweet.
