The Arboretum

Thanks to my friend Nealy, I have been trying some new things with my camera. She gave me a lesson and loaned me a lens. I still have a lot more playing around to do but have snapped a few good shots so far.
Tuesday, the kiddos (minus one) and I went with my friend Li to the Arboretum. In the almost two decades that I've lived in this area, I've never been there. It was gorgeous! It's the perfect place for a "budding" photographer to practice. Ok, I know that was lame!
This gorgeous monarch butterfly was hard at work.

They were very happy to find this shade. It was an extremely hot day! The beautiful fan that London is holding is from Hong Kong I believe which is where Li resided for the past 11 years. Minnesota is a bit of a culture shock. Right Li? But she's a Texas girl so she has adapted beautifully!

In the midst of the beautiful trees and flowers, we found little gems like this brick sidewalk. The Arboretum is such a beautiful mix of many things.

The children loved the lily pads and the tadpoles that they found!

London had enough! She was hot and hungry (it was an hour past lunch time). We were on a 3-mile path and simply needed to persevere to get to the end.
We had such a wonderful time. I can't wait to go back! Maybe we will plan for a cloudy day in the 70's...
