When Bill and I were coming up with our goals for 2010, one thing that I said I would like us to do is fancy dinner night. I would like our children to know how to go to a nice restaurant and behave appropriately (also, know which utensil to use - at least use utensils).
Last night was our first attempt! I'm still a little laid up with a bum knee (however it's progressing nicely). So Bill made our Thanksgiving style dinner and London helped him set the table, complete with table linens, candlelight and china. The rules were that they had to use silverware, they couldn't pass gas - in any form - at the table and had to use their manners. I have to tell you, that my husband even DVR'd the Vikings game in order for this dinner to happen! If you knew what a big Vikings fan this man is, you would understand that sacrifice.
Dinner was a success! London only burped a couple of times and at least tried to cover her mouth... (that is a success for us). The food was terrific and it really gave us a chance to just be a family. We had a nice conversation. And it was fun to teach them how to be a little "grown up". I have always appreciated my mom teaching me these things!
What will be on the menu next time...
