What a Wonderful Life

Let me start by saying, no, I don't live in a fairytale world. I have things that I would like to change - my weight, the grey in my hair (I do change that frequently), a different house in a different neighborhood, and most recently a different car that isn't such a wuss in the ice and snow.

But there is this reality... I have a body that is free from disease. I have hair - it hasn't been lost to anything like chemotherapy. I have a roof over my head and very reliable transportation.

Besides those things, I have a Creator who is incredibly faithful. As most of you know, I left my job last June to stay home with our children. What I've realized over the last eight months is that I love it more than I could have ever imagined. I have a husband who really loves me and children, that at times can drive me a little crazy, but are the most precious things on this Earth.

I've also been very involved in the MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group at my church. I don't know if my friend Amanda had any idea what an impact this would have on our lives when she took the very brave step to start this. I was also invited to join BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) and did. The Bible is so real! These were real people with real challenges. No - we no longer have to sacrifice animals to be cleansed of our sins (we are studying Moses this year) because of the death of Jesus. But we have some of the same challenges and the same lack of faith from time to time. Because of these two groups, I've met the most wonderful friends! I have finally found the friends that I will have for the rest of my life. Don't get me wrong, I've made a few others along my life's path that will also stay with me. They've been there through many stages of my life and have been so supportive. I am just so thankful for the new friends that I've added to this circle.

Last night, I was falling asleep and just felt the need to express this gratitude. I know that life will always have it's challenges. That is part of what makes us stronger and reminds us of the faith that we need to have. But I must remember, everyday, to give thanks for this wonderful life that God has give to me, my family, and our friends.
